Overview

Lack of industry readiness in a fresh graduate has been a matter of concern, particularly in recent times. Though many efforts have been made to address this matter, results were futile. Infosys came out with ‘Campus Connect’ and Wipro introduced ‘Jump Start’. Though the ideas were commendable, they were many flaws in the concept in all stages, right from planning, method of execution, resources, infrastructure etc. Then there were ‘Finishing School’ programs adopted by NIIT, Aptech, Purple Leap etc where graduates were exposed to corporate training for a few months and then deployed to jobs. Again, these were still not effective enough.

FIRP and how it is different?

FIRP is NOT just another technical training program to make students work-ready. Our vision is much bigger, it is more than making students job-ready and helping them bag dream jobs. We do not only provide campus recruitment training but we are visualizing an India where innovation begins in colleges. Rather than waiting to start innovating after they get into a job in a specific field, we believe innovation in every step should be ingrained in the students’ education with practical insight. Students need to be exposed to what is the zenith of their field and how the experts have achieved them so that they are driven to invent and create rather than going circles in reading theory books and reinventing the wheel.

Our vision of bringing innovation to colleges come true only when there is more investment on students’ higher education. Now, how to increase the cost spent per student? The limited funds of government bodies like NSDC, CSIR, etc is definitely not sufficient. Having the industry who are ultimate beneficiaries here, invest a part of their R&D on their future work-force’s education is more practical approach. Companies by investing a little can save double the amount by cutting down on the expenditure of training fresh graduates.

Formac’s Industry Readiness Program bridges the gap between colleges and industries by training the students in the colleges itself. Fundamental Readiness Program and Industry Readiness Program training is imparted in their final semesters along with their course work ensuring that the graduates are industry ready and can start working from the day they graduate, eliminating the need to train them again at the start of their career.

On an average India has above 8000 IT companies recruiting more than 2 lakh fresh graduates every year and spend 2% of their revenue, which is approximately Rs.2500 crores on training and developing industry skills for their staff, supplementing the higher education system. Imagine the amount of savings that can be made by spending a little to imbibe a culture of Innovation, Invention and R&D in each and every step of the student and ‘Industry Readiness’ becomes a natural trait in any graduate.

FIRP Advantage

NASSCOM’s Employment Pyramid Approach: FIRP is designed in line with NASSCOM’s Employment Pyramid Approach where the base of the pyramid represents simple technical skills, the middle stands for skills which are mainstream and account for the majority of the existing shortage in the industry, while the top of the pyramid represents high-end technology skills such as bio-informatics, embedded software, product architecture, DSP, VLSI etc. FIRP focuses on developing highly specialised professionals with skillsets in mainstream as well as emerging, 'on-the-horizon' technologies that are not yet mainstream.
New emerging technologies and their practical application: In the current higher education scenario in technical education, the curriculum becomes outdated by the time a student graduates. FIRP addressed this need of keeping the students up-to-date on new emerging technologies and their practical application which enables them to explore various new fields as well as fit into their roles more easily equipped with knowledge on latest innovations in their field.
Targeted functional training: Any construction needs strong foundation and pillars, upon which structures are built and shaped to suit individual needs. Similarly, we feel students should be trained on functional areas like development, testing, administration and project management which are the fundamental for an augmented career in the technical industry.
Workplace discipline in all aspects: We enforce workplace discipline in all aspects of our training. We help students understand what is expected of them and assist them to meet defined standards of performance and behavior at the workplace and to act in a responsible manner to help smooth transition from campus to company culture.
Workplace customized approach: We work with companies to deliver training solutions suited to meet their core requirements. Our course ware is flexible to cater to the requirements of various industries keeping in mind needs and constraints like • Role Specific training • Domain Specific training
